Welcome to SellOldMagazines.com—a trusted platform for the careful and selective review of vintage magazine collections. If you possess original issues of Look magazine from the 1930s and 1940s, your collection may qualify for review. As a prominent publication of mid-20th-century America, Look magazine offers a visual and editorial chronicle of the era’s pivotal moments and cultural shifts.
We are currently reviewing select Look magazine collections from the 1940s and earlier that meet our general buying guidelines.
About Look Magazine
First published in 1937, Look magazine became renowned for its photojournalism and human-interest stories, capturing the essence of American life during significant historical periods, including the Great Depression and World War II. With its emphasis on photography and concise articles, Look provided readers with a visual narrative of the times.
Notable early issues include:
September 27, 1938 – Featuring the “Swing” issue, highlighting the era’s popular music and dance trends.
August 27, 1940 – Cover featuring Ann Rutherford, reflecting the magazine’s focus on Hollywood and entertainment.
December 17, 1940 – Cover featuring Vivien Leigh, with articles discussing the challenges faced by England during World War II.
What We’re Looking For
We appreciate all interest, but Look magazine submissions must meet the following criteria for consideration:
Era: Primarily issues from the 1930s through the 1940s. Later editions may be considered as part of a larger boxed lot.
Condition: Magazines must be in very good condition—free from torn pages, significant wear, mold, or water damage.
Mailing Labels: We prefer label-free covers, especially when labels obscure logos or cover art.
Quantity: We do not purchase individual issues. Submissions should include 10 or more, boxed for shipment or prepared for in-person pickup.
Content: Issues covering major historical events, cultural milestones, or featuring prominent figures may enhance reviewability but do not guarantee acceptance.
While Look magazine holds historical significance, resale remains a niche market. Only collections that meet our combined standards for condition, completeness, and volume are considered.
