Sell Your Pre-1980s Billboard Magazines
Welcome to SellOldMagazines.com—your trusted source for the selective review of vintage magazine collections. If you have original issues of Billboard magazine from before 1980, your collection may qualify for review. As one of the longest-running publications in American music journalism, early Billboard issues serve as a time capsule for the evolving music industry and commercial entertainment.
We are currently reviewing select Billboard magazines published prior to 1980 that meet our general buying guidelines.
About Billboard Magazine (Pre-1980s)
First published in 1894, Billboard began as a publication covering billposting and outdoor entertainment before transitioning into the definitive authority on music charts and industry trends. By the 1950s, it was publishing the Hot 100 and Top 200 charts, spotlighting genres ranging from early rock and roll and country to R&B, soul, and disco. Issues from the 1940s through the 1970s offer a unique lens into the business of music and the cultural landscape surrounding it.
We are most likely to review:
1940s–1970s U.S. Editions
Issues Featuring Early Music Charts, Artist Features, or Industry Advertising
Magazines in Very Good Condition (No Torn or Missing Pages)
Boxed Collections of 10+ Issues for Review
Mailing Label-Free Covers Preferred When Possible
What We’re Looking For
We appreciate all submissions, but only a small number of pre-1980 Billboard magazines meet our current buying standards. Please review the following:
Era: We are only reviewing Billboard issues published before 1980. More recent issues do not qualify at this time.
Condition: All magazines must be in very good condition—no water damage, mold, missing sections, or excessive wear.
Mailing Labels: We prefer issues without mailing labels, especially if the label interferes with the cover.
Quantity: We do not accept single-issue submissions. Collections should include 10 or more magazines, boxed or suitable for local pickup.
Content Type: Issues containing original chart listings, historic advertisements, or early artist features are often of greater review interest—but inclusion does not guarantee acceptance.
Even for legacy publications like Billboard, resale is limited to collections that meet strict standards for age, condition, and overall volume.
