Sell Your 1960s Rolling Stone Magazines
Welcome to SellOldMagazines.com—your trusted destination for the selective review of vintage print collections. If you have original Rolling Stone magazines from the 1960s, your collection may qualify for review. As the magazine’s founding decade, the 1960s issues offer a raw and early look at a publication that would go on to define music journalism and countercultural reporting.
We are currently reviewing select Rolling Stone issues from the 1960s that meet our general buying criteria.
About 1960s Rolling Stone Magazines
Rolling Stone was first published in San Francisco in 1967, founded by Jann Wenner and music critic Ralph J. Gleason. With its black-and-white newsprint format and politically charged editorials, the early issues were an immediate reflection of their time—covering artists like The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, and Janis Joplin, alongside protest movements, drug culture, and generational change.
Collectors and cultural historians often consider these early editions unique for their raw layout, bold content, and historical significance. However, not all surviving issues qualify for resale due to age-related wear and fragility.
What We’re Looking For
We appreciate all submissions, but 1960s Rolling Stone magazines must meet strict criteria due to rarity and handling sensitivity:
Era: We are specifically reviewing issues published between 1967 and 1969—Rolling Stone‘s earliest print years.
Condition: Despite their age, magazines must still be in very good condition for consideration. No mold, missing pages, major tears, or water damage. Light wear is acceptable.
Mailing Labels: We prefer copies without mailing labels, especially on front covers, though some labeled issues may still be reviewed.
Volume: We typically do not purchase individual issues. We prefer grouped lots, ideally 10 or more magazines, boxed for secure shipping or prepared for in-person pickup.
Notable Content (Optional): While issues featuring iconic covers or pivotal interviews are of interest, content alone does not determine value or acceptance.
Please note that even 1960s Rolling Stone magazines do not guarantee resale potential unless they meet the combined standards of age, condition, and collection size.
