Sell Your Old Ebony Magazines
Welcome to SellOldMagazines.com—your trusted source for the responsible review of vintage magazine collections. If you have old issues of Ebony magazine, particularly from before the 1990s, your collection may be eligible for review. For decades, Ebony chronicled the lives, achievements, and cultural movements of Black America, offering rich historical insight through its photography, reporting, and cover features.
We are currently reviewing select Ebony magazine collections that meet our general buying criteria.
About Ebony Magazine
Founded in 1945 by John H. Johnson, Ebony quickly became one of the most influential publications in African American media. With a mission to uplift, inform, and reflect the Black experience, Ebony covered everything from civil rights milestones to entertainment, family life, business, and beauty. Its glossy covers often featured iconic figures in music, politics, and culture, making it a staple in homes across generations.
Collections we may consider often include:
1940s–1980s U.S. Editions
Covers Featuring Civil Rights Leaders, Entertainers, and Cultural Icons
Issues with Photo Essays, Historical Reporting, or Lifestyle Features
Bulk Collections with Little Damage or Deterioration
Magazines Free of Mailing Labels When Possible
What We’re Looking For
While we appreciate all inquiries, our ability to accept Ebony magazine submissions depends on specific buying standards:
Era: We primarily consider Ebony issues published before the 1990s. Newer editions are rarely accepted.
Condition: Items must be in very good condition, with no mold, water damage, torn pages, or excessive wear.
Mailing Labels: For aesthetic and resale purposes, we prefer label-free copies, especially for cover-focused publications like Ebony.
Volume: We do not buy individual magazines. We focus on collections of 15 or more, preferably boxed or suitable for local pickup.
Cover or Feature Content: While issues highlighting civil rights, entertainers, or historic events are welcome, inclusion alone does not guarantee purchase.
Please note: Even for culturally significant titles like Ebony, resale remains a specialized market. Acceptance depends on condition, age, and overall volume—not just content.
