Sell Your Vintage Elle Magazines (1940s–1950s)
Welcome to SellOldMagazines.com—a trusted platform for the careful and selective review of vintage magazine collections. If you have original issues of Elle magazine from the 1940s or 1950s, your collection may qualify for review. As a pioneering publication in fashion journalism, early Elle issues offer a unique glimpse into post-war style, culture, and women’s evolving roles in society.
We are currently reviewing select Elle magazine collections from the 1940s and 1950s that meet our general buying standards.
About Elle Magazine
Founded on November 21, 1945, by Hélène Gordon-Lazareff in Paris, Elle emerged in the aftermath of World War II as a fresh voice in women’s media. Combining fashion, culture, and social commentary, the magazine quickly became a staple for modern women seeking both style inspiration and substantive content. Early editions featured contributions from notable writers and showcased the latest in haute couture, reflecting the optimism and creativity of the era.
Vintage issues are often noted for:
Elegant cover designs featuring prominent models and actresses of the time
In-depth articles on fashion trends, beauty tips, and lifestyle topics
Illustrations and photography capturing the essence of 1940s and 1950s style
Advertisements showcasing period-specific products and brands
What We’re Looking For
While we appreciate all inquiries, only Elle magazine collections that meet the following criteria will be considered for review:
Era: Primarily issues from the 1940s and 1950s
Condition: Must be in very good condition—no missing pages, significant tears, water damage, or mold
Mailing Labels: Label-free covers preferred, especially when labels obscure cover art or text
Quantity: We do not purchase individual issues. Submissions should include 10 or more, boxed and ready for shipping or available for local pickup
Content Note: Issues featuring landmark events or prominent fashion features may enhance interest, but content alone does not guarantee a purchase
Due to the magazine’s extensive publication history, only well-preserved and complete collections from the specified era are likely to qualify for review.
